Federal No Surprises Act
Many people have been harmed by surprise medical bills, sometimes called “balance billing”. This might be present, for example, with charges incurred during emergency or surgical care when there may be out-of-network providers included in care without the patient’s knowledge. To address this and to protect patients from surprise medical bills, the “Federal No Surprises Act” went into effect on January 1, 2022. This Act requires all licensed health providers who offer out-of-network services to post a notice of “Your Rights and Protections Against Surprise Medical Bills” in private offices and on websites. This notice can be viewed here.

Please understand that my mental health services are different from the above scenario, and I am completely transparent with my billing and fees. I do not engage in surprise or balance billing. In accordance with the Act, I will gladly provide a “Good Faith Estimate” of the costs of services prior to our first intake and then again over the course of treatment.
